According to the Hackney Citizen newspaper, one person in four (25%) of Hackney residents have never used the internet. I can understand this, as even here at Sundial there are regrettably still some elderly people who are “anti-computer” and will loudly proclaim “I don’t like computers” or “I’m not interested in computing.” I have found that there is a genuine reason for these outbursts, and if people like bloggers and computer literacy classes and groups take the softly – softly patient approach, and gradually show them how a computer can make their lives better, excellent results can be achieved. The answer is in understanding people, and working at their pace – not yours. We have computer usage groups most days here at Sundial which are geared around this problem. Please see this link for further info.
