LASER ART – BY KIDS!

The Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green will be running at least two great projects for kids from 27th to the 31st May.

The first one is helping children make Laser-Beam Art in a workshop called Eye Spy Art. They can also make finger-print characters. This group will be on 27th, 29th and 31st May only. Admission will be £5, and advanced booking is recommended.

The second group is to learn and be coached in the game of Chess.  Children must be 6 years of age to participate in this group. This group will be on the 28th and 30th May only, from 10.30am to 1pm and from 2-4.30pm. Advanced booking is advised.

FIRST ESSEX BUS SERVICE GOES AIRBORNE TO HELP OTHERS

Many of you will have ridden on a First Essex bus at some time or another, but the new vehile they help finance you would only want to ride in an emergency, and then you would be glad they were there.

The FirstGroup, parent of First Essex have just committed themselves to provide £100,000 over four years to the London Air Ambulance Service. We have previously written articles chronicalling the great work done by the air ambulance (such as in this link), so we now say well done to FirstGroup. Well done.

POLICE CADETS ASK FOR MORE ADULT LEADERS

The London Police Cadets have an urgent need! They need another 400 adult leaders.

Applicants must be aged 18 to 25.

Cadet Leaders help train and support Cadets, and attend functions such as Trooping Of The Colour and Rememberance Day. They also help their Cadets to achieve the best possible standards in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, as well as attending holiday camps.

POPPY APPEAL TOTAL FOR TOWER HAMLETS

The total amount donated towards the British Legion’s Poppy Appeal in November 2012 by Tower Hamlets collectors was……£100,000.

Rumour is spreading that News International, one of the largest newspaper groups, who publish and print the Sun, the Times and the Sunday Times amongst others, and are currently based in Thomas More Square in Wapping, are about to lift-and-shift to new offices in the London Bridge area. Come on guys – you know as we do that East-End is best!

TOWER HAMLETS DESPERATE SHORTAGE OF FOSTER PARENTS

The borough of Tower Hamlets is aiming to find at least 25 new foster parents as soon as possible. The largest shortfall is within the white community, although foster parents from all communities are required to assist children to be placed within their own ethnic group.
